Sister and brother

The pictures I posted of Logan earlier today reminded me of the many that I took of Makenah on that mat exactly 2 years ago. Here they are, for a cute brother and sister comparison.

Logan Kent and Makenah Grace, 4 months old
 Oh, the sweetness.

We moved!

Well, moving day has come and gone. We are officially Western Kansan-ers. Garden City is our new home, and we are getting settled quite nicely. For so long we looked to this summer when we would close the chapter of our lives that included Bryan's medical schooling and residency. When we bought our house in Wichita 5 years ago, it seemed quite far off. But, as each year ticked off the calendar, and each month drew us closer and closer, it seemed like it all happened in a flash!

We moved into our new home last Sunday, after a little bit of back and forth to get the rest of our things and attend our house closing. Both our families helped us pack, and we were so thankful for them! We've spent the week unpacking and getting settled in our home. Bryan has a nice chunk of vacation scheduled before he starts at the clinic, and we are really cherishing this time together. Makenah and Logan are doing great! Makenah talks about living in Garden City and is doing well in her new house and room. (Her big girl bed is being delivered next week! Ahh!) Logan is getting so big, and he's full of smiles!

Here are just a few pictures from moving time. I kept wishing that I could be walking around taking pictures, but every time I thought of it, I got sidetracked with a box or with a child.

A sampling of the moving crew. Couldn't have done it without all these muscles!
 Pizza break!
As we say, "pack it high and tight."
The "essentials" for traveling with kids and spending our first nights. (Minus the TV, ha! That was just setting in a safe location.)

And, post-move, from last night, a very happy baby.
A happy Friday to you all!

Logan (3 months)

Oh, our sweet Logan.
Our Logie...Logie Bear...Logie Bogie.
He's almost 4 months old, and here I am scurrying to mark his first 3 months.

We continue to be thankful for what a good boy Logan is. His sleeping and eating patterns have held pretty steady, and we can tell he is growing and becoming really strong!
As most babies tend to do, he's losing some of his hair. We expected more loss in the back, but its actually on top that has happened the quickest. It's funny to look back at his newborn pictures now, and see all that hair.
Hi eyes are a deep, strong blue and his eyelashes continue to come in long like Bryan's. His big gummy grin comes so easily, and he is most happy when people are interacting with him. Don't leave this little guy out! Logan continues to be a very good baby. He doesn't fuss, just for fussing sake. He's usually hungry or needing some extra attention! But, if you do want to hear some fussing, just try and give him a bottle. Oh, my...
At 3 months, he's getting stronger on his tummy, watching what we are doing, making lots of cute baby talk, and taking great naps. Makenah becomes more and more interested in helping and interacting with him. I just love seeing them together. She still tells me that I need to put him down sometimes, but she has also become more understanding of his needs. She'll tell me that "Logan needs Mama," "Logan needs some milk,," "Logan's sad," etc. I like seeing that she is looking out for him already.
Three months has gone by so quickly, but at the same time, it feels like Logan has been a part of our family for much longer. I'm already thinking about all the new things Logan is doing now that its been another month.
We love our precious Logan Kent.

And then he was done

This past Saturday night was Bryan's residency graduation ceremony. It was a fun event at the Hyatt to honor the 17 family medicine doctors who are now completely done with their training. This month has been 7 years in the making for Bryan. Four years of medical school and 3 years of residency. But, since this guy decided he wanted to be a doctor when he was 8 years old, we can say its 21 years in the making....Ha!

We attended with Bryan's parents, brothers, and grandparents and it was so nice to celebrate with them. My parents graciously offered to stay back and keep Makenah and Logan for the night so we could really focus and take in this time. I can't even explain how thankful we were to them. I pictured myself going in and out of the program with baby Logan, and trying to keep a non-stop talking toddler quiet--oh, man!

We enjoyed appetizers, a delicious dinner, and then the program began. Each doctor was honored individually by the faculty and we even got to see pictures during an accompanying slide show presentation. So many nice things were said about Bryan. I was honored to be his wife.

Arriving at the ballroom
Yes, I took a picture of my plate. It was de-lish!

 The gentlemen
 Brothers! (Brandon, Blake, and Brad)
Bryan with his Dad and Grandad
 Us with Granna and Grandad
 With his parents
It goes without saying that I am beyond proud of Bryan. I can't even say! He has worked so hard for so many years, and to be at this place now is so exciting.
We are starting a big new chapter as a family! Our upcoming move to Garden City so Bryan can start his practice out there is getting closer by the day! We are looking forward to the move, to Bryan's new job, and living near his family, but we are sad to be moving farther away from my parents and brother and our friends and church.
Things are getting really busy around here, as we pack up the house and wrap up things in Wichita. This evening was a nice break to celebrate Bryan's accomplishments.
So proud of you babe!

Gettin' hitched!

Great news in the Billings Family!
My brother is engaged!
He popped the question a week ago, and we couldn't be more happy for him.
His lovely fiancé is Maria and he is a totally lucky guy!! She is so sweet, fun, caring, beautiful, outgoing and thoughtful. They are completely in love, and have such a great relationship. We all loved Maria from the moment we met her, and are super excited to have her in the family!

Here's the happy couple. I can't wait to get many more pictures of them!!
Wedding planning is going full speed ahead! Yay!

Holding Logan and a kiss

We've been hearing "Hold Logan" or "Put Logan on my lap" a lot lately. (Of course, she tells us, "put Logan down" often too, ha!)
But, this big sister likes to hold her bro, and he's getting pretty big on her little lap.

She's ready...
(I think Logan is thinking, whoa!!)
I think these were the next day. I just can't resist his big smile.
Oh, my heart.

Park with Grandma and Grandpa

Before I get too far, here's some cute baby for you!
Grandma and Grandpa Billings came over for supper the other night, and when we were done eating, we all walked over the the park. We mostly just stood back while they swung and climbed. It's all about G-ma and G-pa when they are around!!
Makenah really likes people to swing on the swings next to her. So, you kind of have to give her a push and then rush over to the other swings.
We headed home with Logan a little in front of them and watched as they walked home together.
A sweet lesson in crossing the street. I love how my mom always shows Makenah the best time, but never misses a chance to teach her things.
She brought me home a flower....love.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend!
