In the cupboard

Isn't it such a fun place to play?
Taking things out, and sitting in it.
Just being cute in general. :)
Here comes the tongue.
This is the new thing. The tongue comes out when she is concentrating, playing, being silly, or working on something. So funny!

First cups, now spoons

Miss Makenah has really been about trying things on her own lately. It has been so cute to see her try out her skills, learn, and practice. We just adore watching her grow. Her super sweet personality makes teaching her things fun, and she gets so excited!
This started out as me feeding her yogurt in the morning. She often likes to hold a spoon too, and sometimes gets fidgety as I feed her. I can just imagine her thinking, "Just let me do it."
I handed over the spoon and she took it from there!
She's a hoot!

Drinks

There is a big girl around here.
She was practicing with a cup after supper today.
Even though the cup was too big, she was actually doing really good. Even better than that, was how fun it was!
And, this is what Bryan and I had for dessert tonight.
We tag teamed this deliciousness.
My vanilla latte made by Bryan, and an orange pistachio biscotti made by me.
Awesome.

Random Friday

Some random things for you today.
Tidbits of information on a variety of subjects.
(Grossness Alert: There is a close-up of raw animal meat in this post. I think its gross looking. But, it's part of the randomness. I promise to balance it out with beautiful and cute things. You've been warned. I bet you are curious now!)

I planned and hosted another party for the residency social group that I chair. It was last night, and it was a "Farewell Party" in honor of the 3rd year residents and wives of Bryan's program. We had it at Picadilly in the Patio Room, with good food, pretty flowers, and fun conversation.
I brought home some of the extra flowers.
About a week ago we headed out for our first bike ride of the season. It was the first time in the pink bunny helmet, and the first time sitting like a big girl in the trailer. There are a few tweaks to be made, but how cute is that?!
Here it is. Eww.
Bryan made deer jerky in my oven this week.
(I tried not to be too dramatic about it.)
Shelf repeat.
Apparently this is the new fun place to sit and read.
I like my pots outside.
Bryan took this when we were outside on Mother's Day.
They have grown already!
How cool is this guy?
And, finally, I was saw this picture from Easter and it caught my eye. I love snuggling in close to Makenah. I remember she was looking at my necklace. She loves to check them out. I'm thankful I never had to give up wearing jewelry. For the most part, she is very gentle when she checks them out.
Have a good weekend!

Some Sunday Steak

Bryan really took care of us for supper tonight!
He was the chef and did the clean-up.
He knows how to put a smile on my face.

Grilled teriyaki steak (and deer) skewers
Grilled vegetable kabobs
Pinapple
Yummmmmm.

Yes, I said deer.
Bryan made steak skewers, and then also made some skewers of the deer meat he had in the freezer from the deer he took this past season.
He was proud of me for trying a piece of his deer. Then I stuck to the steak. It was too delicious.

Here's our guy with his grill.
He's fantastic on this thing.
Strategically placing things.
(I don't understand this part. But, based on the coals, fire, smoke, food, size of things, etc. he can decide where to put things.)
There is deer on there somewhere. :)

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

And, here is a cutie playing Saturday morning.
She pulled the basket of magazines off and put herself there instead.
She's curious, creative and fun.
I love it.

Just standin' with my Cheerios

I was trying to be extra quick and sneaky today in order to catch some independent standing and maybe even a step or two. I was just about ready to give up. I was patient though.

Makenah had this cup of Cheerios she had been snacking on, and didn't want to be done with it yet. Sometimes all you need to get your mind off the pressure of practicing something new are Cheerios!
Standing AND stuffing them in!
(Doesn't she look so big?!)
Going for more WHILE standing...
On the move. Caught her in motion. :)
There were a lot of Cheerios on the carpet.
Luckily, I know that no cereal will be left behind. He waits and watches to see where it falls and then...
gets them all.
Hope you have a great weekend!!

Dedication and Mother's Day

I already shared that Mother's Day was made extra special by the fact that we dedicated Makenah in church on Sunday morning. It was such a sweet time for our little family, and Bryan and I feel so blessed to be Makenah's parents.
We had lots of family with us to support us, and so many friends that we attend church with there as well. After the service, we all came back here to our house and indulged in a big lunch and cake for Mother's Day. Bryan smoked a brisket and I made some sides to go with it.  It was SO awesome having both our families here together, and getting to be with both our mothers on Mother's Day.
After church we took lots of pictures outside. I wanted to get pictures of Makenah with everyone. Even though it was windy, I am thankful I we were able to have pictures to remember this day.

We got a picture with our dear friends the Fricks before we left church. Vance and Danni dedicated their baby girl Remi as well. It was neat we could do that together. They are amazing friends!
We missed Makenah's Uncle Brad and Uncle Blake, who weren't able to be in town on Sunday, and her Aunt Jenna who will be coming for another visit soon! And, Makenah's Great Granna and Grandad were unable to come, and we missed having them. Can't wait to see you all!
