Talking on the phone?

Makenah's Grandma Billings told me the other day, that after watching her play the other night, she thinks that she is pretending to talk on the phone with her play phone.
I saw her in action myself soon after, and played along, pretending the phone was ringing. She loves it.

Dialing...(or texting, ha!)
"Who should I call?"
The phone's ringing!
"Hello!"
She kind of just holds it up by her head. She puts her other play phone up by her head too. Funny!
Such a happy girl!

We made our own...

I don't usually post about our dinners on here. :)
But, we had so much fun cooking our supper tonight, and thought you might recognize what we prepared.
Pretend you are going through the line.
Rice, please.
I'll have black beans.
Would you like fajita veggies? Yes.
Chicken.
Any salsa?
Corn, please.
The finished product!
A chicken burrito bowl!
Ha! We were pretty proud of our homemade Chipotle bowls!
They were SO good!

From back in the day

I've been going through some old pictures, from when Bryan and I were little. I've specifically been looking for pictures of when we were Makenah's age, but I stumbled upon these along the way. (I've got some others to share too.)

Do all parents take this picture of their kids when they lose their first tooth? I thought it was so funny how we both have this picture!
(That's some crazy ponytail hair I've got! I'm sure I'd been playing outside all afternoon. :)
I LOVE looking through old pictures.
They make me smile.

Just a few pictures to start the weekend.

1 year

Before we move on to 13 months old around here, I thought I would take some time to share about our sweet 1 year old. So what is she up to these days...?
We took some toys to the backyard to play and I took these pictures with one of the favorites right now. Makenah is super busy and really into playing with her toys. The best part about the toy box right now, is that you can dig in it and throw everything out. Her ball popper, books, tea set, doctor kit, and light up toys are favorites right now, along with her play table and scooter.
Makenah continues to be on the move, and we watch her get stronger and stronger on her feet. She loves to push her toys around, and cruise the furniture. She will make her way around the living room, making sure to hit the most interesting spots. When she gets somewhere or touches something that she knows is not for her, she shakes her head "no no." Does that keep her from pulling on those curtains? We're working on that. Ha! :)
We continue to be proud of her daily routine. We are so thankful for a great sleeper, and impressed with how well she feeds herself. She can eat and enjoy most foods with us. She's a big girl now.
It seems we are always on the look out for a new development around here. New skills, sounds, teeth..you name it, and we're seeing it! Now that Makenah is getting good at imitating, we are having fun practicing new skills. We had a great 1 year doctor's appointment, and we are so thankful for a happy and healthy little girl. Our little ladybug is 20 lbs. and 29 inches long.
As you have seen, Casey and Makenah have become buddies. Seeing them together makes me happy, and I start to picture what their relationship will be like as she grows. I see patience in him, so I hope that he will be special to her.
Makenah is a silly girl. Very animated and seems to know how to be funny. We are grateful for her easy going nature, too. She will tease with us, and it's fun to get her giggling.
We are pretty proud of this 1 year old. What a wonderful year it has been.
We love you Makenah Grace!

Patience

I love seeing my sweetheart and good boy Casey together. He is so patient with her. They are buds.

Congratulations to the Mr. and Mrs.

My college roommate got married on Saturday! Kira and I spent A LOT of time together during college. Not only were we roommates our sophomore, junior and senior years, but we played volleyball together all four years as well. So, she was stuck with me on the volleyball court, and she couldn't escape me the rest of the day either. :) We had so many great times together, and she is so much fun! A great sense of humor, and an easy going spirit. I have such fond memories of those days, and I am so thankful we continue to be friends!

Kira and Brody make such a great pair, and we are so excited for them. The wedding was beautiful and the day was so much fun. Bethel suitemate Danae and I got the fun job of being personal attendants/coordinators. We enjoyed seeing all the action, and helping the day run smoothly. I think Danae would agree, that for 2 girls who like to organize and plan, it was an awesome job to have!

The colors for the wedding were purple and orange, for Kansas State and Oklahoma State. Kira is a big KSU fan and Brody is a huge OSU fan. It was a beautiful combination of colors for March.
Look at those boots!
Kira's a country girl! (Did you know she drives a combine for every harvest back home?)
She rocked those purple boots!
Here's the crew. Affectionately dubbed the "Sweet Suite," Danae and Jacey lived on the other side of the bathroom. :) So many special times together. Late nights, sharing closets, funny pranks, tons of laughs, long talks, inside jokes, sports workouts, studying for class...I could go on and on.
My coordinating partner! Smart idea to have two do this job, Kira! It made being two places at once a lot easier!
And, the most important part, the happy couple!
After a special and busy day, I finally cornered these two for a picture before we sent them away in their limo.
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Buzzard! Have a wonderful honeymoon!

Happy Birthday, Debbie!

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday dear MeMe
Happy Birthday to you.

Today was Bryan's mom's birthday!
She is a wonderful mom, mother-in-law, and MeMe to Makenah. We are so thankful for her in our lives and all the special qualities she has. Debbie is such a sweet and thoughtful person, always thinking of others' feelings and how she can make everyone feel good. She is kind, compassionate, caring and gentle. She is fun, energetic, enthusiastic, and helpful.
A good role model, a devoted wife and mom, and a strong woman of God. Truly a special mother.

Happy Birthday!
We love you!
