Exploration Place

Makenah and I went to Exploration Place with some friends from the residency the other day. I've only been there a few times, and it was the first time that Makenah got to go. It was funny to see us make our way through, a big group of moms with big strollers. Ha! We went on a weekday afternoon, and we almost had the place to ourselves.

Happy Birthday to my Dad!

Today's my dad's birthday!
What a great day to celebrate such a wonderful man.
A dad, husband and grandpa who is so much fun.
Loving, generous, thoughtful, funny, and kind. I have always felt so lucky to have a dad so supportive and caring. One who is always there when we need him, and who is so giving.

A few of my favorites, in honor of dad!
Happy Birthday, Dad! We love you so much!!

Couldn't miss a chance

Oooh, it was nice out today.
I was so excited to hear that the forecast this week had some milder temperatures coming our way. Makenah and I couldn't miss a chance to get out in the neighborhood today. I've said before how much I love walking with Makenah. She's my partner, and a great one at that.

Bath Time!

Makenah loves bath time! She always has.
I'm really thankful for that--she makes it easy and fun.
She splashes and plays, and doesn't mind one bit when her face gets wet!
And, being silly in the tub brings out all kinds of expressions!

All over

Makenah was all over the place tonight.
After dinner she was helping load the dishwasher.
Then she was "putting away" the tupperware.
Then she headed to the living room to make her rounds.
She's a hoot these days. So funny.
And, so busy.

In the kitchen...

I just finished some baking.
The background:
This year, I am the chair of Bryan's residency's 'social group.' The Via Christi Family Medicine Social Group meets throughout the year to plan parties, get-togethers, service projects, and other out reach activities for residents and their families. There are a lot of things to coordinate throughout the year, but I have enjoyed it.
(Sometimes when I think about being in charge of a group that plans parties, I think of the "party planning committee" from one of my favorite shows, The Office! Luckily, our group is much more welcoming and fun! Ha! :)

So, one small thing that social group does every year to welcome new hopeful residents to the program is bake cookies that go in a care package to the applicants. This weekend is Call Back Weekend at Via Christi, where applicants that are being considered for the program get to come back and meet everyone one more time for a fun weekend before VC Family Medicine decides who they would like as part of their program.
All that to say, I've done a little baking. I didn't take pictures of the mixing, cutting, or baking. I got all that done so that 3 friends from the residency could come over and help decorate them. I should have taken pictures while we did that. It was a good time.
But, the finished product was so colorful, I had to take pictures. I bagged and tagged them tonight after Makenah went to bed.
It's tradition to make sunflowers...
Getting them all bagged up.
With social group tags, and ready to go.
There are some fun activities planned for this weekend. I'm looking forward to it!

10 months

Makenah's now 10 months old, and she is a busy girl! :)
She is a quick one now, and likes to explore around the house.
A happy girl...curious and fun.
Right now she is into pulling up on everything.
Books are still a favorite, she really gravitates to them. She likes to pull them out of her toy box in the living room, sit and look at them in her room, and loves to have them read to her.
Makenah is trying to get her point across with her voice. Along with DaDa, we've heard MaMa (still waiting for it to become a regular!) and what I like to think is "hi." :) She oohs, ahhs, hollers and shouts, and squeals a lot too.
She'll wave at us now also.
She goes from one room to another...
We're such proud parents.
Makenah is such a sweetheart. Most of the time she is so easy going, fun to take places, and interacts well with others. At 10 months she is sleeping well, eating lots (she likes to feed herself, and eats a lot of table food now), and learning a ton.
More to say...
(Ok, mom, enough with the bow)
Makenah is such a blessing in our lives. 10 months have gone so fast! We are so thankful for her, and all the joy she brings to us. Happy 10 months Makenah!
